Prayer to Obtain Favor Through the Intercession of Fr. Ignatius Maternowski, OFM Conv.
Divine Lord, on that dawn now memorable as D-day, you graciously inspirted in the heart of Army chaplain and Franciscan Friar, Father Ignatius Maternowski, the desire to ease the sufferings of his wounded and dying brothers with a refuge of comfort and peace. While actively engaged in this work of mercy, you took him to yourself by a foeman's bullet. As I ponder the selfless charity of Father Ignatius, I pray that in times of difficulty and challenge I may respond with like courage and trust. Then, too, by your grant of a special petition of mine, made through the intercession of Fr. Ignatius (here mention your special intention) may you manifest approval of his cause for sainthood in your Church. You Lord live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
